At CreatineIQ, our dosing logic is rooted in peer-reviewed science. Learn how our Standard, Tailored, and Optimal calculations are backed by clinical pharmacokinetics.

Calculation Logic & Basis

Muscle Saturation & Kinetics

Our calculation models use a physiological ceiling of approximately 150-160 mmol/kg of dry muscle mass for saturation. We use Lean Body Mass (LBM) to estimate total skeletal muscle—assuming skeletal muscle accounts for approximately 45% of total LBM—and thereby determine total creatine storage capacity.

Daily Expenditure Rate

The body naturally degrades roughly 1.6% to 2.0% of its total creatine pool into creatinine every day. For high-intensity athletes, this turnover rate slightly increases. This baseline rate forms our maintenance dose calculation.

Dietary Baseline Saturation

Diet significantly impacts your starting baseline saturation. Vegans typically have lower baseline saturation levels (~60%) since dietary creatine is found almost exclusively in meat. Conversely, carnivore or high-meat diets lead to a higher baseline (~80%).

Dose Limits

Large boluses of creatine (typically >10g) can draw excess water into the intestines through an osmotic effect, leading to gastrointestinal distress. To prevent this, the calculator strictly applies your personal Dose Limit as the maximum daily intake during the loading phase, extending the loading duration over more days rather than recommending multiple large doses per day.
